Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College

Since 1847, The City University of New York has provided a path to success for generations of New Yorkers. In this rich tradition, the Macaulay Honors College offers academically gifted students an exceptional undergraduate education, integrating the vast resources of the City University with New York’s cultural, scientific, and business communities.

Launched in 2001, the Honors College was designed to connect the many diverse programs offered through the honors programs at CUNY’s senior colleges with exceptional advising, hands-on internships and research opportunities, new community service and study abroad courses, and the resources to enable each of our students to excel in college and beyond.

Students accepted into the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College spend their undergraduate years in three campuses: Hunter's 68th Street campus, the Macaulay Building at 35 West 67th Street, and Hunter's Brookdale Campus on 25th Street and 1st Avenue.

Macaulay Honors College students at Hunter College enjoy a free dorm room for their freshmen and sophomore years in the Hunter College Residence Hall located on 425 East 25th Street. Flagship students who are Macaulay students will participate in a variety of activities, such as shopping for and cooking Chinese food, visiting museums, watching Chinese performances, and holding Chinese chess contests. All of the programming is organized by the Flagship Residential Assistants who are also Chinese graduate students.
